During the recording process for the 2013 ‘Sons Of The Sea’ music project, I penned this little telling with the intent of creating a kind of origin story but also as a way to hint towards the music from a conceptual standpoint. I even challenged myself to hide little winks alluding to earlier solo releases. Reading it back now, It’s all too obvious to me that I was exorcising some demons through my barrage of metaphors, but so be it. We have such a weird and unique opportunity as songwriters and artists to catalogue what are ultimately psycho-spiritual processes that manifest as living and dynamic thought-forms. Though I suppose it’s much more tidy to refer to them as songs. Ha! I never published the story until now; I suppose I wasn’t ready to share some of the edgier aspects of what was being endured around that period of time. But time does have a way of rounding out edges and for that I am so grateful. I hope you enjoy this little jaunt and if you feel so inclined, I invite you to revisit this album after reading. For me, it was a burst of light during an otherwise shadowy period of time.
Cheers,
Brandon Boyd

Their lore hear-tell and haunt the water soaked walls so thoroughly that their eventual patina—a rainbow of rusts—is only the fruiting body perched above a vast mycelial narrative. But these details, though endlessly fascinating, may sometimes prove less family friendly.
